Abstract

Over the past decade, Internet penetration rates have been on a sharp rise. The Internet has significantly changed the job application process and improved the channels of communication between employers and job-seekers. Internet and other telecommunication technologies have diversified the geography of employment demand by subdividing work into components, transmitting the tasks electronically, and coordinating geographically as dispersed production processes. During the Internet explosion in the mid-1990s, economists predicted that the Internet had great potential for improving the channels of communication between employers and job-seekers. Job boards and corporate career web pages are at the center of the online job search process. This work focuses on the aspect of the relationship between the Internet and employment markets in the job search process. It attempts to find answers for people looking for jobs online, does internet affect such outcomes and differences job performances hired through the internet.
