Abstract
Wireless Mobile Networks have become an essential component of modern communication systems due to their flexibility, mobility, and infrastructure-less operation. However, the open wireless medium makes these networks vulnerable to numerous security threats such as eavesdropping, packet dropping, routing manipulation, and denial-of-service attacks. Secure routing mechanisms are therefore critical for ensuring reliable data transmission and network integrity. This paper presents an overview of secure routing protocols and their significance in wireless mobile environments. Various security challenges, routing attacks, and defense mechanisms are discussed. Furthermore, secure routing protocols such as SAODV, ARAN, and SEAD are analyzed and compared. The study highlights the effectiveness of cryptographic techniques and trust-based approaches in enhancing routing security. Finally, future research directions for developing robust and scalable secure routing solutions are presented.
